Aquapulse targets 3x revenue growth, to expand shrimp farmer network to 10,000

-Bhubaneswar, September 23, 2026
Aquapulse, an integrated aquaculture startup working with more than 7,000 shrimp farmers across 20,000 hectares, is targeting threefold revenue growth over last year as it expands its farmer network, procurement volumes and presence across India’s shrimp-producing regions.
The Bhubaneswar-headquartered company, which currently has a farmer base across Odisha and West Bengal, plans to expand into Andhra Pradesh over the next 12 to 18 months. It is also looking to increase its network to 10,000 farmers and take shrimp procurement to 5,000 metric tonnes as it scales its operations connecting farms with domestic and export markets.
Aquapulse procured around 2,000 metric tonnes of shrimp from its farmer network last year and has already matched that volume this year. The company expects procurement to grow about 2.5 times this year, while the value of shrimp procured is projected to increase between 2.5 and three times over the previous year.
At the centre of the model are small shrimp farmers who typically have limited visibility on market prices, crop quality and demand at the time of harvest. Farmers onboarded with Aquapulse see a 3–5% benefit in realisation, according to the company. Aquapulse also works with farmers across crop cycles rather than limiting its engagement to procurement at harvest, giving them continuity of market access.
“Shrimp farming is a high-risk business for a small farmer because several things can change between stocking a pond and taking the crop to market. Our aim is to give farmers better visibility through that cycle and, importantly, a reliable route to the market when the crop is ready. As we move from 7,000 to 10,000 farmers, the focus will remain on whether scale is translating into better economics for the farmer,” said Abhishek Dwivedy, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Aquapulse.
The company uses technology across the farming and procurement process to help farmers track pond conditions, anticipate potential crop issues and plan harvests. Its pre-harvest system uses photographs from farms to assess pond conditions and determine harvest readiness. Farm information, water quality and crop history are recorded through the production cycle, allowing the company to forecast harvests and respond to farmer queries when problems emerge.
After harvest, each lot procured by Aquapulse is traced and documented before reaching the port. This creates a record of where the shrimp was produced and how the crop moved through the supply chain, while also helping Aquapulse match produce with market requirements.
“Better information has value only when it improves the farmer’s outcome. If we can identify a problem earlier, help a farmer protect a crop, give him greater certainty about the buyer and ensure that a well-managed crop receives better realisation, technology is doing its job. Our next phase is about taking this model to more farming clusters while retaining that connection with individual farmers,” said Abhilash Dwivedy, Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer, Aquapulse.
Andhra Pradesh will be the next major market in Aquapulse’s expansion strategy. The state is one of India’s largest shrimp-producing regions and will allow the company to extend the model it has built across Odisha and West Bengal to a significantly larger aquaculture ecosystem. The expansion, along with higher procurement from its existing farmer clusters, is expected to take Aquapulse towards its 5,000 MT procurement milestone and support its target of tripling revenue over last year.
The expansion comes as Aquapulse gains international recognition for its farm-to-market model. The company was selected as one of three global finalists in the aquaculture category of the 2026 Responsible Seafood Innovation Awards organised by the Global Seafood Alliance. Aquapulse presented its model at the Responsible Seafood Summit in Bangkok in September, highlighting its work around farm data, shrimp traceability and connecting small farmers with larger markets.
