From Building VMEDO To Launching Tez Health: Why Praveen Gowdru Is Betting Big On The Future Of Healthcare At Home

How Did Praveen Gowdru Begin His Entrepreneurial Journey In Healthcare?
Long before healthcare-at-home became a popular buzzword in India's startup ecosystem, Praveen Gowdru was already working on solving some of the country's most pressing healthcare accessibility challenges.
His entrepreneurial journey began with a simple observation: while India was witnessing rapid advancements in healthcare infrastructure, access to timely medical assistance remained a significant challenge for millions of people. Emergency response systems were fragmented, healthcare information was difficult to access, and patients often struggled to connect with the right medical support when they needed it most.
Driven by this gap, Praveen founded VMEDO, a health-tech platform focused on emergency healthcare services, first aid training, occupational health solutions and digital healthcare support. At a time when India's digital health ecosystem was still evolving, VMEDO was among the early startups attempting to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and patients through technology.
Over the years, VMEDO expanded its footprint across multiple healthcare segments, working with corporates, educational institutions, hospitals and healthcare professionals. The platform built a strong reputation in emergency response management and workplace healthcare services while creating a sustainable business model in a highly challenging sector.
Today, VMEDO continues to operate successfully as a healthcare technology platform, serving thousands of users and partnering with organizations across India. The company's growth gave Praveen a front-row view of how healthcare delivery was changing and, more importantly, where the next major opportunity was emerging.
What Led Praveen Gowdru To Launch Tez Health?
While building VMEDO, Praveen repeatedly encountered a problem that traditional healthcare providers were struggling to solve.
Patients increasingly wanted healthcare services delivered at home.
Whether it was a senior citizen requiring nursing assistance, a working professional needing a diagnostic test, a patient recovering after surgery, or someone requiring urgent medical attention, the demand for convenient, home-based healthcare services was growing rapidly.
The COVID-19 pandemic further accelerated this behavioural shift. Patients became more comfortable receiving medical care at home, while healthcare providers began exploring alternative care delivery models beyond hospitals and clinics.
For Praveen, this was more than a temporary trend.
It represented the future of healthcare.
Drawing on years of operational experience gained through VMEDO, he identified an opportunity to build a platform focused entirely on delivering healthcare directly to patients' homes. This vision eventually led to the launch of Tez Health in January 2026.
Co-founded by Praveen Gowdru, Ramesh Yadav and Dr. Haripriya, Tez Health was created with a singular mission: make quality healthcare as accessible and responsive as modern-day convenience services.
Why Is Tez Health Different From Traditional Healthcare Platforms?
According to Praveen, most health-tech startups focus on teleconsultations, medicine delivery or appointment bookings. While these services improve accessibility, they do not address the physical aspect of healthcare delivery.
Tez Health aims to solve that problem.
Instead of asking patients to visit hospitals for routine procedures, diagnostics, nursing support or follow-up care, the company brings trained healthcare professionals directly to patients.
The platform enables access to nursing care, injections, wound dressing, physiotherapy, diagnostics, post-hospitalisation support and urgent healthcare assistance at home.
At its core, Tez Health is building what Praveen describes as an "on-demand healthcare infrastructure" that combines technology, healthcare professionals and operational coordination into a single platform.
The goal is simple: when patients need healthcare, healthcare should come to them.
What Has Tez Health Achieved So Far?
Although still in its early stages, Tez Health has already started building momentum.
The startup currently serves around 30 patients every day through its healthcare delivery network. A 20-member core team manages operations, technology and customer experience, while a growing network of healthcare professionals supports service delivery on the ground.
The company has also developed partnerships with doctors, nurses, diagnostic providers and ambulance services, creating a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem capable of serving patients across multiple care requirements.
Unlike many healthcare startups that rely heavily on discounting or customer acquisition spending, Tez Health is focused on building a sustainable model centred around service quality, response time and patient trust.
Where Does Praveen See The Future Of Healthcare At Home?
Praveen believes healthcare delivery is entering a transformative phase.
Just as food delivery, transportation and commerce shifted from destination-based services to on-demand platforms, he believes healthcare will undergo a similar transition over the next decade.
His vision for Tez Health extends far beyond home nursing or diagnostics.
The company aims to build a complete healthcare-at-home ecosystem where patients can access everything from preventive care and routine medical services to urgent interventions through a single platform.
Over the next five years, Tez Health plans to expand across major Indian cities and scale from serving dozens of patients daily to more than 10,000 patients every day.
For Praveen, Tez Health is not simply another startup venture. It is the culmination of years spent understanding healthcare challenges through VMEDO and a belief that the future of healthcare will not be defined by hospitals alone, but by how quickly and efficiently care can reach patients wherever they are.
As India moves towards a more patient-centric healthcare model, Tez Health is positioning itself at the centre of that transformation building a future where quality medical care is available not just nearby, but at the doorstep.
