Karnataka Bank Appoints Sughosh Nagendra as CTO, Search led by Venator Search Partners

Mumbai, November 3, 2026:

Karnataka Bank has appointed technology veteran Sughosh Nagendra as its Chief Technology Officer, effective October 30, 2026, strengthening its senior technology leadership as banks increase their focus on digital infrastructure, cybersecurity and cloud adoption. The executive search was led by Venator Search Partners, a retained search firm specialising in senior leadership hiring across banking and financial services.

Nagendra has nearly three decades of experience in the information technology industry. He most recently served as Group Chief Information Officer at Agilus Diagnostics and previously held senior technology leadership roles at YES Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank, RBL Bank, UBS and Barclays Bank.

His experience spans enterprise technology strategy, digital transformation, large-scale infrastructure modernisation, core banking migrations, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data-centre operations, enterprise architecture and technology risk. He has also managed complex technology environments while aligning investments in automation and data analytics with regulatory requirements and business priorities.

An alumnus of the National Institute of Engineering in Mysuru, Nagendra has worked on modernising legacy systems, strengthening operational resilience and building technology platforms capable of supporting business growth.

Commenting on the appointment, Bharati Mujumdar, Director Operations at Venator Search Partners, said, “Technology leadership in banking now sits at the intersection of business growth, customer experience, cyber resilience and regulatory compliance. A bank CTO must modernise complex systems without disrupting service, strengthen security and ensure that investments in cloud and automation create measurable business value.”
“Sughosh brings the combination of banking-domain knowledge and enterprise technology experience required for this expanded mandate. He has led transformation across complex organisations and understands that modernisation must move alongside resilience, governance and regulatory discipline. That balance was central to the search,” Mujumdar added.

The appointment comes as banks move beyond isolated digital projects towards wider technology renewal involving core platforms, cloud infrastructure, data architecture, cyber defence and technology-led automation. For established lenders, the challenge is to modernise systems while maintaining uninterrupted services, protecting customer data and meeting increasingly demanding regulatory expectations.

Nagendra’s appointment strengthens Karnataka Bank’s technology leadership at a time when the CTO’s role has become central to a bank’s competitiveness and resilience. His experience across transformation and day-to-day technology operations will be relevant as the bank aligns technology investment with operational performance, regulatory compliance and customer-facing growth.
