Neural AI Wins Best DeepTech Startup Title at IIT Madras for Building Enterprise Brain for Pre-AGI Era, Inspired by Neuroscience

Neural AI, a deeptech venture founded by Roshan and Tejash, awarded recognition worth ₹10 lakh, is building the Enterprise Brain, a new approach to artificial intelligence inspired by human memory and cognition.

CHENNAI: Neural AI, a deeptech research lab founded by IIT Madras undergraduates Roshan Singh and Tejash Mishra, has been named the Best DeepTech Startup by KaroStartup at IIT Madras, receiving recognition and support worth ₹10 lakh.

The recognition comes as the venture advances its mission of building the Enterprise Brain, a new generation of artificial intelligence inspired by the mechanisms of human memory and cognition.

Emerging from IIT Madras, one of India's foremost centers for deeptech innovation, Neural AI represents a growing wave of research driven ventures seeking to solve foundational challenges in artificial intelligence. While much of the global AI race remains focused on scaling model size and computational power, Neural AI is pursuing a different question: how can machines acquire, organize, and evolve knowledge in a manner closer to biological intelligence?

At the center of the company's research is Anant, a large language model architected around the principles that govern biological memory. Drawing inspiration from how the human brain encodes experiences, consolidates knowledge, integrates information across time, and continuously adapts its understanding, Anant is designed to develop increasingly sophisticated knowledge structures rather than rely solely on short term contextual information.

The long term vision is what the founders call the Enterprise Brain, an intelligence layer capable of transforming conversations, documents, decisions, workflows, and institutional knowledge into an evolving system of organizational cognition. The company believes such systems could redefine how enterprises preserve knowledge, reason across information, and build intelligence over time.

Speaking about the company's broader mission, Roshan Singh and Tejash Mishra said in a joint statement, "Our mission has always been simple: From India, For the World. We believe India possesses the talent, research capability, and entrepreneurial spirit required to contribute foundational advances to artificial intelligence. Neural AI was founded with the conviction that breakthrough innovations in machine intelligence can emerge from India and create impact on a global scale."

Tejash Mishra, Co Founder of Neural AI, highlighted the limitations of existing AI systems and the need for a new architectural approach. "The challenge is no longer generating answers. The challenge is creating intelligence that can learn from experience, connect information across time, and continuously improve its understanding. That is the direction in which we see artificial intelligence evolving."


Roshan Singh, Co Founder of Neural AI, emphasized the scientific motivation behind the company's research. "Human intelligence is not defined solely by computation. It emerges from the brain's ability to transform experience into knowledge. We believe the next frontier of artificial intelligence lies in developing systems that can build and refine knowledge structures over time rather than treating every interaction as an isolated event."

The founders also credited India's growing innovation ecosystem for enabling a new generation of deeptech entrepreneurs.

"India is witnessing a remarkable transformation in science, technology, and entrepreneurship. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of building a globally competitive innovation economy has inspired thousands of young founders to pursue ambitious technological challenges. The founders noted that the momentum created around deep technology, scientific research, and entrepreneurship is encouraging more students and researchers to work on foundational innovations capable of creating global impact.

The company further acknowledged the influence of IIT Madras Director Prof. V. Kamakoti, whose emphasis on indigenous innovation, deep scientific research, and technology leadership has inspired many student entrepreneurs emerging from the institution.

"IIT Madras has consistently encouraged students to think beyond incremental products and work on technologies that can create long term impact. The leadership and vision of Prof. V. Kamakoti have played an important role in strengthening this culture of deeptech innovation," the founders noted.

The emergence of ventures such as Neural AI reflects IIT Madras's growing reputation as one of India's most influential deeptech ecosystems. Over the years, the institution has produced several successful technology ventures including Agnikul Cosmos in space launch systems, GalaxEye in multi sensor earth observation technology, Planys Technologies in underwater robotics and inspection, Solinas Integrity in robotic infrastructure solutions, and Tutr Hyperloop IIT Madras, whose work has contributed to advancing next generation transportation technologies.

These ventures have helped establish IIT Madras as a launchpad for founders pursuing complex scientific and engineering challenges with global relevance. Increasingly, young entrepreneurs emerging from the institution are choosing to tackle foundational problems across artificial intelligence, aerospace, robotics, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, and deep scientific research. Neural AI represents the latest generation of research driven ventures seeking to build globally significant technologies from India.

As artificial intelligence enters its next phase of development, Neural AI is betting that the future will belong not only to larger models, but to systems capable of learning from experience, integrating knowledge, adapting over time, and exhibiting increasingly sophisticated forms of reasoning.
