Peeko Raises Rs 67.4 Crore to Build a Faster Babycare Commerce Platform

Peeko, a baby care quick commerce platform that delivers baby and kids' care essentials within 60 minutes, has raised Rs 67.4 crore (over $7 million) in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Chiratae Ventures, with participation from existing investor Stellaris Venture Partners and angel investors.

The Bengaluru-based startup had earlier secured $3.2 million in a round led by Stellaris Venture Partners in August last year, with participation from angel investors including Maninder Gulati, V3 Ventures co-founder Arjun Vaidya and others. The fresh capital will be used to invest in technology aimed at building a broader “parenting partner” proposition alongside its core commerce business.

A Vertical Approach to Quick Commerce

Founded last year by Chetan Sharma, Abhijit Gairola and Vivek Khetan, Peeko operates a vertical quick commerce platform focused exclusively on baby and kids-care essentials. Unlike horizontal quick commerce apps that stock a wide range of general merchandise, Peeko concentrates on a narrower but high-frequency category: products that parents need regularly and often urgently.

The platform offers apparel, diapers, toys and baby food. It also provides try-and-buy options and instant returns, features designed to reduce purchase anxiety for parents who want to check fit, quality or suitability before fully committing to a product.

Solving for Parental Urgency

Parents of infants and young children often face time-sensitive needs. A sudden shortage of diapers, the need for a specific formula, or the requirement for a replacement item can create immediate demand. Traditional e-commerce delivery windows of one or two days, or even same-day options that still take several hours, may not always match that urgency.

By promising delivery within 60 minutes, Peeko positions itself as a solution for these moments. The vertical focus allows the company to curate an assortment that is more relevant to its audience than a general quick commerce platform, while the dark-store model supports speed.

Growth and Current Footprint

Peeko claims it has grown nearly two-fold every quarter over the past six months. More than one lakh parents have shopped on the platform since its launch. These early traction metrics suggest that the combination of speed, specialised assortment and parent-friendly features is finding product-market fit in its home market.

The startup currently operates three dark stores in Bengaluru, covering around 55% of the city. It plans to expand to six stores by the end of 2026 before entering two more cities next year. This measured expansion approach prioritises deeper coverage in an existing market before geographic diversification.

Expanding the Assortment

At launch, Peeko offered around 6,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs). That number has since grown to between 27,000 and 30,000 SKUs across apparel and accessories, toys and learning, baby gear and consumables. A broader assortment increases the likelihood that parents can find what they need in a single order and raises the potential average order value.

According to the company, its average order value stands at around Rs 1,000. Apparel, toys and baby gear account for a significant share of its business. This mix is notable because consumables such as diapers and food typically drive frequency, while higher-value categories such as apparel and gear can improve margins and order size.

Building Beyond Transactions

The Series A proceeds will support technology investments aimed at evolving Peeko from a pure commerce platform into a broader “parenting partner.” While the company has not detailed every feature under this vision, the direction suggests an intention to add services, content or tools that help parents beyond the moment of purchase.

In categories involving young children, trust and guidance often matter as much as product availability. Platforms that can combine fast delivery with useful information, personalised recommendations or convenient services may be able to deepen engagement and improve retention.

Competitive Landscape

Vertical quick commerce focused on baby and kids-care is still an emerging segment. Specialised players are attempting to differentiate through curated assortments, faster delivery and parent-centric features.

Qzi is another company operating in this space, offering more than 15,000 products for children. It recently raised $6.2 million in a Series A round led by RTP Global, after an earlier $3.3 million seed round. The presence of multiple funded startups indicates growing investor interest in category-focused quick commerce models that target high-intent parental spending.

Challenges in Vertical Quick Commerce

Operating a vertical quick commerce business comes with specific challenges. Maintaining high availability of essential items requires accurate demand forecasting and efficient inventory management. Dark stores must be located close enough to customers to enable 60-minute delivery while remaining economically viable. Returns, especially for apparel, need smooth handling to preserve customer trust without eroding margins.

Competition from both horizontal quick commerce platforms and traditional e-commerce players remains significant. Larger platforms can leverage scale, brand recognition and existing logistics networks. Vertical players must therefore deliver a meaningfully better experience in their chosen category to justify customer preference.

Looking Ahead

With the Series A funding in place, Peeko has resources to strengthen its technology stack, expand its dark-store network in Bengaluru and prepare for entry into additional cities. The near-term focus appears to be deepening presence in its current market while building the capabilities required for a broader parenting-oriented platform.

Success will depend on consistent delivery performance, assortment relevance, operational efficiency and the ability to convert early parental trust into repeat usage. If Peeko can combine speed with a genuinely useful parenting experience, it may carve out a durable position in a category where convenience and reliability matter deeply to customers.

The Rs 67.4 crore raise gives the company a stronger foundation to test that ambition as it moves from early traction toward wider scale.
