Reslink: Building Made-in-India Intelligence for India’s Solar Energy Sector

India’s rapid expansion in solar energy has created a less visible but serious vulnerability. The country remains heavily dependent on China-made hardware, particularly solar inverters and battery management systems. Nearly 90% of solar inverters installed in India come from China, according to Shashank Jha, Co-founder and CEO of Reslink. That dependence means not only the equipment but also critical operational data often flows overseas—raising both performance and national security concerns.

New Delhi-based Reslink is working to reduce that reliance by offering a reliable, intelligent, made-in-India alternative. Founded in 2023 by Jha, an IIT Delhi alumnus and former president of the institute’s Entrepreneurship Development Cell, and Kalyan Tarafdar, an electronics engineer from Kolkata, the startup is developing energy intelligence solutions designed specifically for Indian solar conditions and data sovereignty needs.

From Custom R&D to Product Focus

Reslink began as an R&D-on-demand service provider for energy firms, creating custom technologies. By late 2024, the founders concluded that lasting impact required moving beyond services. They shifted focus to building their own products, combining software intelligence with hardware monitoring.

Their flagship offering, Reslink Intelligence, is an energy intelligence platform that captures, analyses and interprets data from solar plants, batteries and inverters. All data is stored on Indian servers. Using IoT-based sensors and AI algorithms, the platform monitors generation, consumption and performance in real time. It helps engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies optimise maintenance and cut losses, while also giving end users clear visibility into plant efficiency.

Alongside the software, Reslink supplies a hardware monitoring device that integrates directly with the platform.

Launch and Early Traction

After 18 months of development, ground testing, and pilot installations, Reslink officially launched its product in October 2025 with a five-member team. The founders conducted on-site implementations to understand real-world operating challenges before commercialising.

The platform has already drawn interest from more than 100 prospective customers, with 20 active deployments underway. The company operates on a B2B SaaS model. Software licences start at Rs 10,000 per user, while the hardware monitoring device is sold at a one-time cost tailored to each site. Clients typically pay around Rs 50,000 per month for monitoring multiple solar sites.

Reslink raised Rs 1 crore in pre-seed funding from IMA Ventures, the Chandigarh Angel Network and Azhar Iqubal, co-founder of Inshorts. It reported revenue of approximately Rs 1.5 crore in FY2024 and carries a post-money valuation of Rs 19 crore. The startup is also part of the Government of India’s Design Linked Incentive Scheme, which supports indigenous hardware design and manufacturing.

Market Opportunity and Differentiation

Reslink competes with players such as Aurora Solar and Solar Labs. Jha argues that the company’s edge lies in combining data intelligence with indigenised hardware. “Most companies work on simulation or analytics layers. We’re building the ecosystem end-to-end,” he says.

The broader opportunity is substantial. According to an IMARC report, India’s battery storage market was valued at around $260 million in 2024 and is projected to reach $2.3 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of about 25.8%. Reslink aims to capture 10% of the solar EPC segment within the next six to eight months, targeting Rs 5 crore in projected revenue.

Roadmap: Simulation, Hardware and Local Data Advantage

The team’s next major milestone is an integrated solar-plus-battery storage system (BSS) simulation tool scheduled for launch by December. The module will help developers forecast payback periods, return on investment and consumption fluctuations with greater accuracy. “We’re training our AI models with real Indian climate and consumption data,” Jha notes. “That’s something global players just can’t replicate.”

Looking further ahead, Reslink plans to develop its own India-made inverters and battery systems, bringing hardware and software under a single platform. The company is already in discussions with more than 100 EPC partners for potential collaborations.

Why Local Intelligence Matters for Solar Energy

As India scales solar capacity, the quality of operational data and the security of that data become strategic issues. Platforms that keep information on Indian servers and train algorithms on local climate and usage patterns can deliver more relevant insights while reducing external dependencies.

By focusing on both software intelligence and indigenous hardware pathways, Reslink is attempting to address a structural gap in India’s solar energy ecosystem. The success of its early deployments and the planned simulation tool will determine how quickly the startup can convert its made-in-India positioning into meaningful market share. For a sector still heavily reliant on imported critical components, solutions that keep both hardware and data closer to home carry growing strategic weight.
