This Startup Wants to End the Ola vs Uber vs Rapido Hassle: Meet Bob

Once in a while, we are all caught up in a situation where we all juggle between the ride-hailing apps, waiting to get a cab or auto. You open Ola, check the fare. Switch to Uber for a better price. Maybe try Rapido for a bike or Namma Yatri for an auto. By the time you decide, surge pricing kicks in or the ride disappears. Add limited phone storage and constant app-switching, and commuting becomes a daily headache.
A Bengaluru-based startup called Bob Rides promises to end this chaos with a simple mantra: “Just Bob It.” Launched on September 1, 2025, just a month ago, the app has already attracted over 9,000 users and around 5,000 daily active users. Co-founders Jai Adithya Poorana (CEO) and Ansh Arora (CTO) have built India’s first true aggregator of aggregators, integrating Ola, Uber, Rapido, Namma Yatri, and more into one seamless interface.
The pain that gave birth to Bob
The idea wasn’t born in a boardroom but from real commuter frustration. Jai Adithya Poorana, a student at Christ University, used to commute nearly 25 km one way. Booking an auto often meant bouncing between apps and even web versions when his phone couldn’t handle another download. “It was painful and hard on the wallet,” he recalls.
This struggle, which began in his school days, intensified during university. Jai wasn’t new to building businesses. He had previously scaled a company to a ₹41 crore valuation, giving him sharp instincts for execution and problem-solving. That experience helped him avoid common startup pitfalls when founding Bob.
How Bob Rides Works
Bob Rides isn’t another competitor to Ola or Uber. It’s a smart aggregator that brings all major platforms under one roof. Users enter their pickup and drop locations, and Bob instantly displays side-by-side options: autos, bikes, cabs from different providers. With one tap on “Just Bob It,” the booking is confirmed within the app. No need to switch platforms or re-enter details.
The experience feels like Skyscanner for rides but far more convenient. Real-time integrations ensure transparent fares and availability. On the tech side, Bob uses React Native for the frontend, with Express and Node.js powering the backend. It also connects with private mobility networks and the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), promoting fair pricing and broader participation.
Privacy is a priority. Bob shares only essential details (pickup and drop points) with partner operators while keeping sensitive information like payments encrypted within its system.
Co-founder Ansh Arora, an AWS-certified cloud practitioner with experience building a developer social platform, complements Jai’s business vision with strong technical leadership. “I always wanted to build for a real problem,” Ansh says. “Jai was the right chemistry I needed.”
Smart Partnerships and Supply Strategy
Bob is actively expanding its network. A notable tie-up with Nagara metered autos brings back affordable ₹18/km rides, addressing both commuter demand and driver opportunities. “It’s a supply and demand issue,” Jai explains. “More partners mean better service for users and fairer chances for drivers and smaller operators.”
Early Traction and Expansion Plans
Despite being just a month old, Bob shows promising momentum. The app is technically live across India but is focusing initially on Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi. The team is testing a hyperlocal delivery feature called “Parcels,” expected to roll out soon.
Bob targets college students, working professionals, and urban families- anyone tired of managing multiple apps. For drivers and smaller operators, it reduces idle time and provides visibility in a market dominated by giants.
Lean Business Model and Future Vision
Bob earns revenue primarily through partnerships with ride-hailing providers. Upcoming features like “Fastest Ride,” which uses real-time data to suggest the quickest option, will include a small convenience fee (₹3-5) only when used. Advertising could become another stream later.
The startup has bootstrapped so far, supplemented by grants and credits worth around $300,000 from Microsoft, Google, and Amazon programs. This gives them roughly 10 months of runway. While investors have shown interest, the founders want to hit key milestones before raising a formal round.
Looking ahead, Bob aims to evolve into India’s “hyper mobility super app.” Beyond rides, plans include food delivery, dine-in, events, shows, and quick commerce. Alignment with ONDC and local transport policies will be crucial for sustainable scaling.
“We want to make everyday life more efficient, accessible, and frictionless,” Jai says.
Why Bob Matters
India’s ride-hailing market is crowded, but Bob fills a genuine gap. It complements rather than competes directly with incumbents by offering choice, transparency, and convenience. In a country where mobility pain points are universal, a well-executed aggregator could capture significant mindshare—especially among cost- and time-conscious users.
Challenges remain: building trust, scaling supply across cities, and navigating regulatory complexities. Yet the founders’ clarity of purpose and early traction suggest Bob Rides is one to watch.
For millions of Indian commuters exhausted by app fatigue, “Just Bob It” might soon become the simplest and smartest way to get from A to B.
