Venator Search Partners Facilitates Appointment of Manmohan Shetty as CFO of Utkarsh Small Finance Bank

Utkarsh Small Finance Bank has appointed Mr. Manmohan Shetty as its Chief Financial Officer, ensuring continuity in the bank’s finance leadership following the elevation of its previous CFO, Mr. Sarju Simaria, as Executive Director and Whole-time Director.
The CFO search and appointment was successfully facilitated by Venator Search Partners, a leading retained executive search firm specialising in leadership hiring in the BFSI sector. Over the years, Venator Search Partners has successfully facilitated more than 59 CXO-level appointments across Universal Banks, Small Finance Banks, NBFCs, Housing Finance Companies and other financial institutions in India.
A qualified Chartered Accountant, Mr. Shetty brings more than 23 years of experience across banking and financial services. He most recently served as CFO of IREP Credit Capital and previously held senior leadership roles at Barclays in India, including CFO of Barclays’ non-banking finance company.
His experience spans the responsibilities of the CFO’s office within regulated financial institutions, including financial oversight, governance, capital management, regulatory reporting and business planning. His appointment comes as banks place greater emphasis on finance leaders who can balance growth with capital discipline, risk oversight and regulatory requirements.
The mandate marks the completion of a succession cycle for Venator Search Partners and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank. Venator had facilitated the appointment of Mr. Satju Simaria as the bank’s CFO in 2022. Following his elevation as Executive Director and Whole-time Director in 2026, the firm was entrusted with identifying his successor. Both appointments form part of Venator’s leadership hiring association with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank spanning more than a decade.
Commenting on the appointment, Deepraditya Datta, Founder of Venator Search Partners, said, “Mr. Shetty brings substantial experience across both banking and NBFC environments, along with the maturity required to manage the increasing complexity of the CFO’s office.”
“What makes this mandate meaningful is the continuity of the succession process. We had facilitated Mr. Simaria’s appointment as CFO in 2022 and have now identified his successor following his elevation to Whole-time Director” Datta added.
The appointment assumes significance as small finance banks sharpen their focus on sustainable growth, profitability, asset quality, capital planning and regulatory compliance. Finance leaders are increasingly expected to work across the institution rather than operate solely as custodians of financial reporting, bringing together strategy, risk, governance and execution.
