Zaydn Raises ₹5.7 crore Seed Round to Scale Its Gen-Z Sneaker Play

Homegrown sneaker brand Zaydn has raised $681,000 (approximately ₹5.7 crore) in a seed funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), with participation from BeyondSeed and other angel investors.
The Delhi-based brand plans to use the fresh capital to expand inventory and production capacity, strengthen working capital, accelerate growth across its direct-to-consumer (D2C) website and major marketplaces, and invest in product development, technology, brand building and team expansion.
Zaydn's Bet on India's Gen-Z Sneaker Market
Founded in 2022 by Ankit Dass, Zaydn was later joined by Vidushi Chaudhary as co-founder. The company is building a homegrown sneaker brand aimed primarily at Gen-Z consumers looking for fashionable footwear without paying luxury-level prices.
Zaydn's proposition sits between aspirational sneaker designs and accessible pricing. Rather than positioning sneakers purely as sports footwear, the brand focuses on design, comfort and self-expression—three attributes increasingly important to younger Indian consumers.
The company follows a digital-first approach, selling through its own D2C channel as well as online marketplaces.
From Fashion-First Designs to Everyday Comfort
Zaydn's product strategy combines trend-led aesthetics with features designed for everyday use.
Its sneakers incorporate features such as:
- Wide toe boxes for improved comfort
- Lightweight TPR soles
- Dual cushioning
- Memory foam insoles
- Breathable uppers
- Premium-looking construction at mass-premium price points
The brand's objective is to make sneakers that can work across everyday activities while still delivering the visual appeal that younger consumers seek from contemporary footwear.
Fresh Capital to Expand Inventory and Production
The new funding will allow Zaydn to increase its ability to meet demand as it scales.
A significant portion of the capital will go toward inventory and production capacity, while working capital will support the company's expansion.
The brand also plans to invest in:
- Product development
- Brand building
- Technology
- D2C growth
- Marketplace expansion
- Team hiring
The funding comes at a time when India's sneaker category is attracting both consumer interest and startup capital.
India's Sneaker Market Is Growing
According to market research cited by the company, India's sneaker market was valued at approximately $3.2 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach around $4.49 billion by 2030, representing annual growth of nearly 6%.
The growth is being driven by changing consumer preferences, increasing fashion consciousness among younger buyers and the broader shift toward casual and athleisure footwear.
For Gen-Z in particular, sneakers have increasingly become more than functional footwear. They are part of personal style and identity.
This creates an opportunity for homegrown brands that can combine distinctive designs with prices accessible to India's growing middle-class consumer base.
A Crowded Field of Homegrown Sneaker Brands
Zaydn is entering an increasingly competitive market.
Several Indian sneaker startups have already built differentiated propositions while expanding through online and offline channels. These include Comet, Gully Labs, Neeman's, Thaely, Banjaaran and Bacca Bucci.
The funding activity in the sector also demonstrates growing investor interest.
Gully Labs raised ₹8.7 crore in seed funding in 2025, followed by a ₹30 crore Series A round in January 2026, led by Saama Capital.
Meanwhile, Comet previously raised a $5.08 million Series A round led by Elevation Capital and Nexus Venture Partners.
Other homegrown names such as Neeman's and Thaely have also attracted venture backing.
Why Zaydn Is Targeting the Mass-Premium Segment
The opportunity for Zaydn lies in the gap between inexpensive mass-market sneakers and expensive international or premium sneaker brands.
For many younger consumers, the purchase decision isn't simply about getting the cheapest available shoe. They want something that looks distinctive, feels comfortable and fits their personal aesthetic—but remains affordable.
This is where the mass-premium positioning becomes important.
Zaydn is attempting to offer:
Premium-looking design + everyday comfort + accessible pricing.
The challenge now will be to turn that proposition into a strong and recognisable brand as competition increases.
What Comes Next for Zaydn
With fresh capital in the bank, Zaydn's next phase will be focused on scale.
Increasing production and inventory can help the company fulfil demand, while investment in product development could allow it to expand its range and strengthen differentiation.
At the same time, growing across D2C and marketplaces will give Zaydn access to a broader customer base.
But perhaps the biggest opportunity is brand building.
In a category where multiple Indian startups are offering fashionable sneakers, long-term success will depend not only on product quality or pricing, but also on which brand consumers choose to identify with.
For Zaydn, the latest funding round provides the capital to compete for that space—and to build a sneaker brand designed specifically around India's next generation of consumers.
