How Magron Bets on Electric Motorcycles and Ecosystem Tech in a Scooter-Dominated Market

The Indian electric two-wheeler market has so far been dominated by scooters. Most buyers, infrastructure, and product development have focused on that format. Bengaluru-based Mobility Aggregation Global Research Organisation, or Magron, is taking a different route. Founded in 2022, the startup is developing three electric motorcycles—the H35, C20 and C10—while simultaneously building technologies it aims to sell across the wider EV ecosystem.
Co-founder and CEO Abiram Menon believes motorcycles will eventually claim a larger share of the electric two-wheeler space. “We thought that at some point in time, motorcycles are actually going to flourish in the industry,” he says. “Since our team is heavily experienced in motorcycles, we thought to take a bet.”
From Engineer to Founder
Menon’s path into electric mobility began at Bounce, where he was the company’s first engineer and worked on scooters as well as the shift toward electric vehicles. He later spent a short period as EV lead at Yulu before taking on vehicle development and consultancy projects for multiple two-wheeler companies. The experience led him to a simple question: if he could do the work for others, why not build something himself?
The founding team also includes Co-founder and Director Jahnavi Jaiswal. Magron currently has a 26-member team with an average of 15 years of relevant experience. Its senior-most consultant brings around 55 years of industry background, giving the young company unusually deep technical depth.
A Portfolio Built for Indian Realities
Magron initially explored the premium end of the electric motorcycle market and built its first complete prototype using carbon-fibre composite materials in just 85 days. The team soon adjusted course. “But we soon realised that India is still not mature enough for any two-wheeler which actually goes beyond Rs 2.5-3 lakh,” Menon explains.
The company responded by designing a broader range:
- The H35, Magron’s flagship, is expected to cost Rs 3-3.5 lakh. It will be produced in limited batches as a technology-led, hand-built motorcycle.
- The C20, priced between Rs 2-2.5 lakh, targets the mainstream motorcycle segment.
- The C10, a stripped-down version of the C20, will sit below Rs 2 lakh.
“We need to have a sensible product which can sell by itself,” Menon says. The C10 and C20 are expected to reach the market around the middle of 2027, with the H35 following a few months later.
Wireless Charging and Broader Technology Ambitions
The motorcycles form only one part of Magron’s strategy. The company says it has identified more than 200 potential development areas across the EV ecosystem and has already worked on more than 50 of them.
One of the more advanced technologies is a patented wireless charging system designed to be more convenient than conventional plugged-in charging. Riders would simply park over a charging pad and let the vehicle charge automatically. Magron aims to eventually “flood the market with the wireless charging infrastructure,” drawing a parallel with how wireless charging became standard on smartphones.
The system is designed to match wired charging speeds. It is initially targeting 6.6 kW and has a longer-term roadmap to 120 kW. A self-aligning mechanism positions the charger beneath the vehicle, while safety systems can detect disruptions around the charging area and cut off power automatically. Importantly, Magron does not intend to keep the technology exclusive to its own bikes. “We want to democratise this charging infrastructure,” Menon says, noting the company’s interest in selling the solution to two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and commercial vehicles.
An AI Companion for Riders
Alongside hardware, Magron is developing Magron Intelligent Virtual Assistant, or Miva. Work on the AI system began in 2023. It is designed to understand riding patterns and detect conditions such as drowsiness or unsafe behaviour. Miva can converse with riders in multiple languages and slang, while safety layers are intended to prevent it from distracting the rider in critical moments. Menon describes it as “more of an emotional AI, not like the generic responding kind of an AI.”
Miva will be available on the C20, with more advanced features offered as an add-on package. The H35 will receive the full system. Magron also sees the software as a potential product for other original equipment manufacturers and is already in discussions with several OEMs.
Treating the Vehicle as Technology Stacks
Rather than viewing the motorcycle as a single product, Magron has broken the EV into separate technology stacks covering data, AI and machine learning, and patented hardware components. Each stack is designed to carry its own revenue potential and the possibility of being licensed or sold across the wider EV ecosystem.
The company has raised around $1 million so far and plans to raise approximately $5 million in its next round. The fresh capital will support extensive testing, supply-chain development, tooling, contract manufacturing, and a pilot batch of around 100 vehicles.
Market Context and Differentiation
India’s electric two-wheeler market is currently valued at $1.98 billion and is projected to reach $5.48 billion by 2032. Within that growth, scooters have led the way. Magron is counting on motorcycles gaining ground as the category matures and as technology improves the ownership experience.
The startup’s approach is deliberately incremental. “We are only going to bring improvements from whatever is existing in the industry and a few things which are not available in the industry,” Menon says. The company frames its work as contributing to “Generation 2” of electric vehicles—making electric motorcycles more practical while turning individual vehicle technologies into products for the broader ecosystem. This focus, Menon argues, sets Magron apart from competitors such as Bengaluru-based Ultraviolette Automotive.
Looking Ahead
Magron is still several years from volume production. Its motorcycles are scheduled for 2027, and the wireless charging and AI systems will need to prove themselves in real-world conditions. Yet the combination of deep two-wheeler experience, a pragmatic product ladder, and a clear intent to monetise underlying technologies gives the startup a distinct profile in India’s electric mobility landscape.
If Magron can deliver reliable motorcycles at accessible price points while successfully licensing its charging and AI systems, it may help accelerate the shift of electric two-wheelers beyond scooters—and create multiple revenue streams in the process. For now, the company remains focused on refining existing technology and filling the gaps it believes the industry still needs.
