What Is Ionage?
Ionage is an EV charging software company. It does not mainly build chargers. It builds the software layer that lets different charging players work together.
According to its announcement, Ionage connects large CPO networks, small CPOs such as restaurants and fuel station owners, real-estate developers, housing societies and commercial fleets. The company compares this to how UPI lets different banks share one payments system.
A charge point operator (CPO) is the business that owns or runs EV chargers and sells charging to drivers.
Tracxn lists Ionage as founded in 2021 by Vimal Kumar V and Varun Chandran, with its base in Bengaluru.
How Much Funding Has Ionage Raised?
The new pre-Series A round is $1.3 million. Before this, Tracxn lists about $971K raised across three earlier rounds, including a seed round in September 2024 with Nextwave Communications as an investor.
Ionage has not published a total funding figure. Adding the two numbers gives roughly $2.3 million (this is an estimate, not a confirmed figure).
Who Invested in Ionage's Pre-Series A Round?
The round was led by strategic investors and a consortium of CXOs from leading energy and infrastructure companies. The announcement does not name them. Only trust investor names that come from Ionage or a named news report, since data sites often copy each other.
What Will Ionage Do With the Funding?
Ionage has shared four goals:
Reach 100% of active charger networks in India, so drivers can find and pay for any working charger.
Help small CPOs set up stations and run them more efficiently.
Build new CPO micro-clusters in Tier 2 cities within the next 18 months.
Reach 20+ million units of monthly energy throughput within 12 months, which the company says it expects with 25%+ month-on-month growth.
How Big Is Ionage's Network Today?
As per the company,
25,000+ four-wheeler charge points onboarded
63+ fleets supported
75+ charging partners
33 states and Union Territories, covering nearly 3,000 cities
Connected to 70%+ of India's charging hardware through charger manufacturers
BPCL and MG Motor India are among its customers. According to the company, they have helped deploy 500 chargers in 500 days.

How Can EV Owners Use the Ionage App?
The IONAGE app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It is built to let a driver find a charger, plan a trip, start charging and pay from one app instead of installing a separate app for each network. Ionage's website says more than 50,000 EV owners use it.
