Strategic Growth Drivers: Microdramas, AI Production, and Subscription Scaling

1. Pivot Beyond Audio: The Microdrama Expansion

Although Kuku FM initially gained users through regional audiobooks and podcasts, the introduction and rapid expansion of Kuku TV became a significant driver of growth. Short-form video series and bite-sized digital dramas drove user retention and higher monetized engagement per active user.

2. AI-Led Production Efficiency

To keep pace with demand across multiple Indian regional languages, Kuku Technologies established an AI-driven production workforce. The company relies on AI tools to accelerate content localization, script adaptation, dubbing, and video post-production.

3. Aggressive Customer Acquisition

Scaling revenue sixfold required substantial customer acquisition costs. Marketing expenses jumped to ₹1,105 crore in FY26. Managing unit economics and subscriber retention relative to acquisition spend remains a critical metric for long-term margins.

Upcoming IPO Details and Key Investors

The profitability milestone comes as Kuku Technologies prepares for a planned ₹2,500-₹3,500 crore Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Backed by investors including Verlinvest, Vertex Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, and Fundamentum Partnership, the company is strengthening its balance sheet to sustain regional expansion ahead of public listings.
