Temple: Deepinder Goyal’s New Brain Health Wearable Explained

Temple is the new health-tech wearable being developed by Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal. Temple is designed to monitor signals related to blood flow in the brain instead of steps, heart rate and sleep.

With pre-orders expected to open soon and six launch colours already revealed, here is everything you need to know about Temple, including its features, price, launch date, funding and how the device works.

What is Temple?

Temple is a health wearable startup founded by Deepinder Goyal. Its first product is a small wearable designed to collect physiological signals around the temple area of the head.

What does Temple do?

The central purpose of Temple is to monitor cerebral blood flow.

In simple terms, cerebral blood flow refers to the movement of blood through the brain. Blood circulation is important because the brain requires a continuous supply of oxygen and nutrients.

However, Temple is not currently described as a device that can diagnose a medical condition. It is an emerging health wearable, and its ability to provide clinically useful information will require continued research and validation.

How does Temple work?

Temple is worn near the side of the forehead, around the temple region.

The location is one of the most interesting aspects of the device. According to Goyal, the team initially selected the temple because it offered a relatively practical surface for placing the sensor.

During development, however, the company found that the location produced useful physiological signals that were difficult to obtain from other parts of the body.

The company has also been testing whether the device can distinguish signals associated with blood flow in the brain from blood flow in the scalp.

A September 2026 report from Navbharat Times, based on an update from Goyal, said Temple had been tested on 60 people and that the testing produced reported accuracy of between 84% and 91% for monitoring cerebral blood flow.

Why is Temple worn on the forehead?

Most wearable health devices are placed on the wrist, finger, chest or ear. Temple takes a completely different approach by positioning its sensor near the brain.

Temple vs smartwatch: What is the difference?

Temple is not designed simply as another smartwatch. The biggest difference is what the device is trying to measure.
