OfficeBanao, proptech and workspace interiors startup, headquartered in Gurugram, has raised about 4 million dollars , or about 34.835 crores, as the part of the larger funding round that has been closed. Lightspeed Venture Partners, an existing investor, led the round, with other investors including Mangum II LLC and the Medra Family and it marked an increase in investor confidence in technology-based solutions to the commercial interiors industry in India. The new capital inflow will be anticipated to allow the company to fasten its growth spread throughout the cities in India, improve on its technology platform, and augment its portfolio of end-to-end workspace services to a wider array of clients and industry participants.
Established in 2022 by Tushar Mittal , Akshya Kumar and Divyanshu Sharma , OfficeBanao has managed to position itself as a one-stop technology platform in commercial interiors. The company provides end-to-end workspace design , build and management solutions, to serve not only to the corporate customers but also to a large ecosystem of specialists such as designers, architects, contractors, office furniture suppliers and material vendors. The difference between OfficeBanao and other industry players is that technology is its main focus, and the industry is fragmented and unorganised in nature. The platform allows the provision of standardised processes, digital tools, and rich content to these stakeholders helping them to manage their projects more efficient, have more visibility of costs, and coordinate their vendors all at one roof.
The service offerings of OfficeBanao include corporate interior and turnkey fit-outs, as well as all-inclusive procurement offerings. Its procurement service is enhanced especially, making it easier to manage the vendors, source, and control costs in all levels of an interiors project, which has been a longstanding agony in the industry. The platform serves both small scale (office fit-outs as small as ₹10 lakh) and large scale enterprise scale (up to ₹5 crore) projects. OfficeBanao has reportedly done above 200 projects in over 40 cities in India since its inception and thus has recorded good initial traction and geographic coverage in a comparatively small period of time. The company now has offices in Gurugram and Bengaluru and operates an experience centre in Gurugram and allows clients to physically interact with design and material options before making a commitment to a project.
The Indian business interiors market is experiencing a tremendous rise, which is triggered by the booming start ups, the move back to office after the pandemic, and the rising needs of the global capability centres establishing their operations in India. Against this backdrop, the technology-based model at OfficeBanao fills a real and urgent requirement namely the aspects of transparency, speed, and scale in an industry that had long been dominated by an offline and relationship-based process. This is especially indicative of the continued support of Lightspeed Venture Partners, which is one of the largest venture capital firms in the world. The move of Lightspeed to reinvest in OfficeBanao is an indication that they believe in the founding team and platform to take a significant market share in this large and emerging market. The further involvement of Mangum II LLC and the Medra Family also diversifies the company investors more and introduces strategic value to them besides capital.
Having this financing available, OfficeBanao can easily expand its operations and take more vendors and partners to its platform and likely increase its technology capabilities - such as automation and AI-driven tools - to make the project lifecycle even smoother to its users. With the commercial real estate and workplace industry of India still in its dynamic phase of development, a service like OfficeBanao can be at the centre of the new direction in terms of the design, construction, and management of offices in India. The next few months will be pivotal in how the firm spends this capital and whether it will be able to make itself the ultimate choice as the commercial interior in India.
